The Wizard of Oz is finally coming to the Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Utah, so it’s time to follow that “yellow brick road” with Dorothy along with her little dog Toto. Joining them are the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the Tin Man. Together, they will journey to the magical land of Oz and meet the Wizard.

On the other hand, you also get to witness the Wicked Witch of the West along with her winged monkeys, doing their best to keep Dorothy and the group from reaching the Emerald City. The Wizard of Oz is a Turner Entertainment’s Classic Motion Picture, and was distributed in all media by the Warner Brothers.

The Tuacahn Amphitheatre

The most awaited musical play will be shown at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivins, Utah. The amphitheater, which was established for the purpose of awakening the nobility of the human soul by bringing people everywhere, from arts and education, will be the host of this popular musical play.

The Tuacahn Amphitheatre and Center for the Arts is a non profit arts organization in Utah that nestles in the mouth of the Padre Canyon towering at 1500 foot. It is adjacent to the Snow Canyon State Park, which is near St. George.

It was completed in 1995 and features a 330 seat indoor theater, an outdoor theater, a dance studio, a recital hall, costume shops, black box theatre, scene shops, classrooms, studios and gift shops. Tuacahn is famous for hosting professional and large scale musical theater productions, including Broadway musicals. They also host an annual fall concert series and other big shows and events.

The Wizard of Oz

The upcoming show is a popular musical play that is based on a popular film in 1939 with the same title. This was adapted from a book by Jeremy Sams and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The musical play makes use of the Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg songs that were featured on the original film and also includes several new songs and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and with additional lyrics composed by Tim Rice.

Right after the preview of the play in the West End, the musical opened in March of 2011. Directed by Jeremy Sams, the play closed on September of 2012. The original cast of the play includes Danielle Hope, playing the role of Dorothy Gale, Hannah Waddingham as the Wicked Witch of the West and Michael Crawford as the Wizard. The musical play has earned various nominations and won several awards as well.
