Hike Spring Canyon Near Kanaraville

There’s a little canyon near St George called Spring Canyon , that is actually one of those hidden secret areas that only locals know about. So now you’re going to be let in on the secret. It actually sits right next to the now famous Kanaraville Falls hike that is so popular these days.

To get to it you just need to go to the next canyon south of Kanaraville Falls, there’s a little dirt road just off of the main road going through Kanaraville, take that and then take a left when you see a road that gives you access to the canyon. Once you’re there the drive-able road quickly ends and you’ll be the rest of the way on foot.

I’ll admit the first time I hiked Spring Canyon I didn’t know what to expect, I had heard that there was a neat canyon next to the falls hike, but that was all I knew. In fact at one point I nearly turned around calling it a bust because I just couldn’t see anything up ahead that looked of any value. That was until I turned one more corner and saw the opening to the canyon ahead.

As you can see from these pictures the canyon gets incredibly pretty very fast. It narrows in and out a few times, and then offers a few split offs you can go explore as well. The scenery it offers is simply stunning as you wander through those pretty canyon walls. Scrambling over rocks and through the trail was an adventure that I enjoyed immensely. There was a little creek flowing when I hiked it, but it was very small and soon disappeared. But I hear that if you come in spring then it much more significant (hence the name Spring Canyon I guess).

If you hike it be sure to bring your camera because you’ll be getting it out a lot to take photos to remind yourself about how wonderful it was. I kept hiking and hiking waiting for it to stop being so fun to be in, but I never found an end point and had to turn around at one point.

One of the best aspects of this hike is that it’s relative unknown, so few people know about it, in comparison to it’s neighbor falls hike, there is next to no one who hikes it. So if it’s hiking solitude that you’re after then this is the hike for you.
