St. George Area Business Environment

St. George has been hailed several times as one of the best cities in the United States to live in. In fact, it is the second fastest growing metropolitan city all over the country. Aside from being naturally blessed with good weather, St. George has a good economy with lots of development going on all over the city. Those who have plans to migrate to the city will definitely not have a hard time in looking for business and employment opportunities. If you are one of those who are planning to settle in St. George, here’s a look at the city’s area business environment.

Developing Economy

There are lots of employment opportunities that will be waiting for you in St. George because the city is home to one of the biggest airline companies in the country, the SkyWest Airlines. The airline is the main airline provider of St. George’s municipal airport.

Aside from SkyWest, Wal-Mart also has a major distribution center in this area. Recently, Family Dollar has opened a distribution center there as well, right in the Fort Pierce Industrial Park.

But one of the biggest contributors to the economy of St. George is its tourism industry. The city is home to some of the country’s most popular attractions, such as the Zion National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, as well as the Bryce Canyon National Park. Furthermore, several golf tournaments are also held in St. George which is one of the reasons why a lot of tourists would flock there annually.

Business Opportunities

St. George is also a great place for those who are looking for business opportunities. In fact, there are several businesses that are based in the city. The Cafe Rio is an example. It is a restaurant chain that started in the city way back 1997, and has now grown bigger and more successful.

But before anyone can get into business in St. George, they must first obtain a license from the local municipality. Each of the cities in Utah has their own unique procedures and requirements. In the city of St. George, you can refer to their official website. They have a section on their site intended for applying for a business license. The website also features some of the most commonly asked questions and answers when it comes to doing business in St. George.

Employment Opportunities

As mentioned, there are quite a handful of employment opportunities in the city of St. George because its area business environment is fully developed. Majority of the residents are those who work in the tourism industry. Because of these opportunities, a lot of residents there are earning much and in fact, the median income for every household in St. George is almost $40,000, while the median income for the entire family is almost $50,000. The per capita income of the entire city was at $17,022. Only 11% of the population is below the poverty line.

As you can see above, the economy of St. George is fast improving. So if you are thinking of migrating to another city, St. George should be on top of your list.
