The Winter Weather in St. George Utah

St. George is located in the southwestern area of Utah, and is near the border of Utah and Arizona. The city is the county seat of the Washington County. The hub of the southern Utah is the seventh largest city in the state and is also one of the most populous cities in the country.

The city is known for its rising population. This can be explained by the general weather in St. George, and of course, the tolerable winter weather. Due to the city’s low elevation as well as its southwest desert location, it has a different climate from the rest of the areas in Utah. St. George is said to be the warmest area in the state and is known for its subtropical climate. They have a long and hot summer season, and a brief cool winter season.

Winter Weather

December is the coolest month in the city of St. George, although you will still be able to do a lot of activities on this month. The city is known for its mild winter, unlike other cities in Utah and the rest of the country.

Both residents and tourists can still enjoy the beautiful sceneries all over St. George even during the winter season. However, there are also nighttime freezes during winter as a result of the radiational cooling. The lowest recorded temperature of −11 °F was in 1937, in the month of January.

Winter is also one of the most anticipated seasons in St. George because most of the people there celebrate Christmas in December. Indeed, the city is the best place to be at during this holiday season since you can sense the festive spirit in almost all people.

  • Dixie Rotary Bowl – this is an event wherein locals and tourists can take part in golf tournaments. There are also parades, banquets and concerts during this event. This is the local’s way of celebrating while they approach Christmas.
  • First Night Celebration – the festivities would include firework displays, live entertainment and food booths. All of these are being held at the Main Street of St. George. This event will take place in the New Year’s Eve and is organized by several businesses and other organizations that want to bring joy to all the locals and tourists of St. George, Utah.

Although the two winter events mentioned above are usually hosted by local residents, tourists and visitors are welcome to join.
