This park has been long anticipated and has finally opened to the public, and it has been a huge success. The project started back in January of 2015, so as you can see, we are all very excited that it has finally opened!

St. George community is so very proud and excited to present the largest and newest park project we have yet to implement! All ability parks are becoming more and more popular all around the world, since it is difficult or impossible for children with disabilities to interact and play on the play sets at normal parks.

This new all abilities park allows children with disabilities to interact and experience those social, physical, emotional and fun activities along side their peers! This is a huge stepping stone in our community and we are extremely excited for locals and visitors alike to come and enjoy all that it has to offer!

What You Can Expect

There is almost too much to describe! There are a plethora of different activities and games for all children to enjoy. This park is starting to be called the “Disneyland of St. George”. Quite fitting considering that it even has a train to ride on!

The park, located adjacent to Tonaquint Nature Center at 1851 S. Dixie Drive in St. George, was designed and built to accommodate children with disabilities and those without and provide a space where everyone can play side-by-side. There are many different parts of the play ground that are made for wheelchairs to be able to easily access. Such as swings, the train and so much more!

Tiles with the handprints of children and youth are displayed throughout the park grounds. They are called the “hands that built the park” and are an example of how the community came together to bring build this masterpiece of a park.

The park has a dinosaur theme and you there are several things in the park that has some pretty cool special effects, such as a sensory garden, splash pad, and much more.

This really was an amazing project and the community has put so much work and effort into putting it together! It is said that this park has set the bar high for the rest of the state of Utah to follow in their steps in making more parks like this one where children of all abilities can play and interact.

So get out there and take the kiddos and enjoy the new Thunder Junction All Abilities Park.
