Technology has changed rapidly the last few years.  A lot of small business owners can live anywhere they want to, and still run their company efficiently.

If you don’t own a “brick and mortar” business, internet and technology advances have made it possible to live where ever you want.  Some people equate the change to the railroads being built in the 1800’s.

Company owners no longer have to live and work in a big city or even a certain location near their customers or employees.  As a result, many former city dwellers are moving to small towns (with populations lower than 100,000) that better suite their preferred lifestyle.  This trend has also helped a lot of small cities retain their growing businesses that in the past would have had to leave to a bigger city to continue growing.

Many small business owners are choosing St. George, Utah as their new company and home base.

To those of us that live in St. George, this isn’t a surprise.  The beautiful weather, stunning scenery, and recreation choices make Southern Utah a prime place to live, work, and retire.

That sentiment is reflected in the book “Boomtown, USA” by author Jack Shultz, who listed St. George as a best small town for businesses and business owners.  Here’s what he had to say:

“St. George, Utah  (Population: 72,897)
One of the larger towns on the list, it has a low average population age of 26  and has seen tremendous growth over the past decade. It is only a few hours north east of Las Vegas. It has a diversified business base with some of its “largest employers” being small businesses.”

If you’re considering relocating your business to St. George, come stay with us while you “try-out” the area.  Our sister company St. George Corporate Housing rents out beautiful fully furnished condos on a short term basis.  It’s a great way to get to know the area before you buy a place of your own.
